Why French citizenship law does not apply to Michel Gbagbo ?
Michel Gbagbo was born from a French mother and an Ivorian father ,and he is a French citizen.Since his arrest on April 11, 2011, he is wrong fully held in the town of Bouna in the north part of Ivory Coast. This citizen with the dual nationality was seized in the house of his father at the time of the political crisis in Ivory Coast. In another hands, Jean Paul Ney, a French citizen also as well was captured on December 27th , 2007 by DST (Direction of the Monitoring of the Territory) for conspiracy against the safety of Ivory Coast. Jean Paul Ney was found guilty from all the charges and he was sentenced by Raymond Tchimou the Ivorian public prosecutor. French authorities in particular the Secretary of state Alain Joyandet pressured the Ivorian authorities of Ivory Coast to obtain his release. His release and extradition were indeed obtained without condition. The crucial question is to know if Michel Gbagbo and Jean Paul Ney are different . Does France make a selection among its nationals ?. Indeed Jean Paul Ney, who by his action has shows his intention criminal lives quietly in France whereas Michel Gbagbo is a prisoner, deprived of his liberty and kept under involuntary restraint because of his father. French authorities should lean more on the case of Michel Gbagbo because the law of their country requires it and they must respect it.
